Burnham July 1st

Well, the county website says "Burnham v Gerrards Cross 17-13 & 13-22 = 30-25", which doesn't correspond to the arithmetic that we learned in school. But they seem to have counted it a win for us because they have us down to play Cheddington in the quarter finals on July 24th.

Finals-  Iver Heath- Away - September 8th 2pm-WON!

Home Away
1. Courtney Harvey 1. Katie Reid
2. Mary Smith 2. Janice Welsh
Skip. Hannah McConnell Skip. Julie Skelly
With the  GX ladies playing Iver Heath in a two rink triple format the smart money was on Iver Heath as for them this was in effect a home game. The Gerrards Cross ladies were however totally focussed and soon drew ahead with both rinks skipped by Hannah McConnell and Julie Skelly taking commanding leads. Iver fought back and provided a strong test for the GX ladies but they came through to lift the Trundle by 6 shots winning 34-28.
Manager Julie Skelly was delighted “I’m so pleased for all the ladies that have really come into their own this year and with Top Club in Leamington next week, I’m so proud!”

Semi Finals- Newport Pagnall- Away- August 17th

Home Away
1. Courtney Harvey 1. Katie Reid
2. Mary Smith 2. Janice Welsh
Skip. Hannah McConnell Skip. Julie Skelly
This match proved to be an exciting affair for both players and spectators. With just 4 ends to play Gerrards Cross were down and out being all square on one end but 5 down on the other against their Newport Pagnall opponents.

However in an amazing last end, the triple of Katie Reid, Janice Welsh and Julie Skelly picked up a 6  to completely change the complexion of the game. With their game finished, all eyes turned to the triple of Courtney Harvey, Mary Smith and Hannah McConnell that still had 3 ends to play. With nerves of steel the GX ladies focussed on maintaining the slender lead and not dropping more than one shot. In the final end, with clever bowl placement, the Newport skip was faced with a running shot that took out her own bowl giving GX a two and winning overall by 3 shots 37-34.

Team managers were Julie Skelly & Mary Price.

This is the main inter-club Ladies competition. We entered it in 2018 for the first time for some years. In the past it has been played as a two fours competition, but in 2018 it was played as two triples. The rules can be found here.

We are in Division 4, and were divisional runners-up. Consequently we went into the quarter-finals,
playing the winner of Division 3, which was High Wycombe.
