This is the most important shot in bowls, as it is used in 90% of game situations.

Controlled Weight
This shot is used when wanting to slightly move the jack's position or an opponent's bowl, depending on the situation.

Run Shot
This is a more aggressive version of a controlled weight shot, which aims to open tightly packed heads (group of bowls around the jack) or to play an opposition's bowl for a big score.

The Drive

Driving (aka Firing)
This shot isn't often used, but is dramatic. It involves playing the bowl with a great deal of force to remove opponents bowls or the jack.
